Dawn was President of Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) in 2005, and has been an active member since she first joined GABWA as a law student in 1998.  Dawn was proud to attend GABWA’s Women’s History Month event presented by GABWA and hosted by Georgia Power on March 29, 2017. Former news anchor Brenda Wood interviewed former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin on the topic “Lessons in Courageous Leadership.”   Dawn and everyone else in attendance greatly appreciated the many pearls of wisdom and insights shared by Mayor Franklin that evening. One pearl in particular stayed with Dawn. When describing public service and what it means to her, Mayor Franklin said, “You have to put yourself in the mindset of the people you are serving.”  Dawn has been traveling throughout the State of Georgia to do just that–to meet, get to know, and better understand the bar members she serves.
